Taking your magazine online or making that brochure more interactive and dynamic is within your reach. You already know Adobe® Photoshop®  and Adobe® Illustrator®. Now apply that knowledge and experience to expressing your ideas in websites you build yourself.  Want to make that website more dynamic? No problem. We'll show you how you can take your Photoshop CS3 assets and move them into Adobe Flash® CS3 Professional  for an interactive experience that will turn heads.  Turn even more heads by animating a Photoshop file in Adobe® After Effects® CS3 or customizing an Illustrator logo for a 3D title.  Mastering these tricks will enable you to quickly take advantage of the growing demand for dynamic media.  Come to this fun session and see how you can easily apply what you know and venture into the world of interactive design by using the creative tools in CS3. Led by Chris Converse.

Demonstrating artistry that surpasses the Wanted posters of their western heritage, Vintage Pressworks is a golden nugget in the pan of Denver printing. Spend Sunday capturing your thoughts on the conference in a hands-on workshop lead by expert artisans. Shake the shackles of the mouse and keyboard to roll up your sleeves and explore wood, metal type, ornaments from both the upper and lower cases, handmade papers, color and composition. Collaborate with fellow designers to create a keepsake reflecting your experiences here, while learning how old techniques can spark creative fires.

About Vintage Pressworks
Vintage Pressworks (a.k.a. Foils and Dies) is a fine letterpress printer that has served the design community for over 18 years. Just a stone’s throw from the art galleries on Santa Fe, Vintage Pressworks is more studio than press room. As you enter, you’re greeted by a warm interior that merges the industrial design of the building with contemporary finishes, paralleling the work within. The vintage pressroom showcases owner Rob Barnes's collection of antique presses against a backdrop of brick walls and ephemera evoking the late 19th century. His unique collection includes a rare wood common press, circa 1755, and a Columbian press, circa 1864. The main pressroom features a clean industrial space for the printing presses used today. Vintage Pressworks takes pride in crafting the best printing and on-press experience for every client.  www.foilsanddies.com

Multi-channel Designing (presented by Quark)

Thursday, October 11, 2007
11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
This workshop was $35.

When it comes to publishing for both print and web, creative professionals have developed a range of tactics, varying from straight print-to-web conversion to using XML—none of them are perfect. Mix in an interactive medium (Flash) and design compromises and inefficiencies abound.

So how can you design efficiently for different media while protecting your product’s brand? What can you as a designer accomplish vs. what can your media-specific specialist or developer do for you? What are the “do’s” and “don’ts” when designing rich multi-channel campaigns that include interactive presentations?

Hear from Joseph Caponsacco, part of the Quark North American Regional Consultant team, who will share with you the lessons he has learned from multi-channel design customers across the world.
